The 12th National Business Excellence Awards of the National Chamber of Commerce was held in Colombo on Tuesday night. The event was held under the auspices of the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and the Maldives James Dauris.
The British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka stated:
I could tell you, that in the first nine months of trade, UK exports to Sri Lanka were up by 44% compared to the same period last year. We are proud of this too and Sri Lanka sells a lot more things to the UK than we (UK) sell here. We are ambitious to close that trade gap. That said, we believe that a strong commercial relationship is a win- win for both our countries, it is a win-win that builds growth, employment opportunities and prosperity. Going a step further, it is our firm view that global prosperity is good for the UK and is good for Sri Lanka.
