Karunarathna Paranavithana took oath as the Deputy Minister of
Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media before President Maithripala
Sirisena this morning.
Paranavithana, a former diplomat and journalist, was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils on September 09.
Meanwhile another MP is expected to be sworn in as the new Deputy Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils.
Paranavithana was the former Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information under Gayantha Karunathilake, who is now the Minister of Parliament Reforms and Mass Media.
However, he resigned from that position to contest the 2015 General Election under the UNP ticket.
Paranavithana has also served as the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto, Canada and the Director General of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
