Railways Dept says footboard travel ban is for long-distance travel

Action will be taken from Tuesday, December 1,  against those traveling on the footboard of trains.
Deputy GM (Operations) of the Department of Railways,Vijaya Samarasinghe says that the decision was taken due to accidents that have occurred due to this practice.
However, commuters had a different story to tell.
Deputy GM (Operations) of the Department of Railways, Vijaya Samarasinghe said, the law will only be imposed on trains travelling long distances. He added that the law will not be applied to the office trains.
